We rescued Fred!

We're talking a lot about working together as a community these days in room 208. Students are learning in Social Studies that without the help of the entire community, early settlers to Canada would have found it even harder to begin their new lives.

On Monday, the boys and girls were challenged to work with each other to save poor Fred, the worm.

We first read a wonderful storybook from our school library called Worm Loves Worm.  With it's message of inclusivity, we were in a positive frame of mind to get to work on helping Fred!

With only two paperclips to use as tools, the boys and girls had to get Fred out from under his boat, put his life-jacket on him and place him back in the boat safely! It was a lot easier than it looked, but as you can see, the boys and girls worked very hard.  Not eating Fred's life-jacket might have been the biggest challenge of the afternoon! 😂
